Each patient room is private, and the uniquely designed "clover leaf" patient care units consist of 60 beds per floor. The Emergency Department is sized to accommodate up to 60,000 visits per year.

You will be responsible for:
  • Capable of handling various aspects of the job simultaneously while maintaining a calm outward appearance
  • Possesses/demonstrates knowledge of emergency codes, location of emergency equipment and method of activation
  • Maintains radiation protection standards according to ALARA principles, particularly to the patients undergoing CT examinations by using the least amount of radiation possible to obtain an optimal, diagnostic study
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, able to recognized gross abnormalities & notify physician of emergent findings
  • Assists physicians in cases of adverse reaction, performance of interventional/biopsy procedures using sterile technique and in acute emergencies when necessary
  • Follows protocols and adjusts techniques as required to obtain optimal exam within ACR dose standards; performs acceptable positioning and properly annotates exam
  • Possesses skills in reconstructions, reformations, including the use of workstations & chooses appropriate protocol for exam being performed
  • Obtains contrast consent, reviews patient history & verifies lab results prior to procedure to determine that the patient is a candidate for administration of contrast material according to protocol & consults with physicians as needed
  • Completes medical records according to policy & procedures for exams being performed and verifies accuracy of transmitted images (including prior images if required) to PACS or other designated electronic imaging system
  • Maintains department standards for on-call coverage
  • Provides excellent customer service to our patients, physicians & offices
  • Performs duties in compliance with universal precaution, infection control, medical records charting/documentation and patient safety requirements
  • Alleviates patient anxiety and empathizes with patients in a caring manner
  • Obtain required patient history and/or consents, review for accuracy, completeness & verifies information prior to procedure
  • Responsible for cleaning equipment, exam rooms and keeps an orderly work area for improved efficiency
  • Verifies lab work prior to procedure to determine that the patient is a candidate for administration of contrast material according to protocol, lab results are within normal ranges for procedure & consults with physicians as needed
  • Knowledge and handling of ancillary devices such as infusion pumps, O2, monitoring devices, urinary catheters, chest tubes & other devices during procedures
  • Utilizes computer system within the hospital guidelines, proficient in required computer programs to perform daily job function and effectively communicates via email with professionalism
  • Completes medical records according to policy and procedures for exams being performed and timely transmission of electronic imaging to PACS
  • Troubleshoots equipment in the event of error, failure, complications, or downtime & follows procedures during such events
  • Assess patient abilities to perform tasks for ordered exam, adjusts as needed to provide safe environment for patient & transfers patient with care & comfort
  • Wears radiation monitoring device(s)
  • Starting & maintaining viable intravascular access during exams requiring administration of IV contrast material
  • Responsible for safely transporting patients via wheelchair, bed, stretcher or escorting ambulatory visitors/patients
  • Responsible for all other duties and duty assignments requested within the scope of practice of the license/certificate holder
What will you need?
  • Graduate of AMA approved Radiologic Technologist program
  • Minimum 2 years hospital-based clinical Radiology experience
  • State of Florida Certified Radiologic Technologist License
  • ARRT (R) or ARRT (R)(CT) (eligible for national registration)
  • BLS-CPR certification
  • Fluent in the English language
  • Experience/knowledge of computers/networking
  • Effective communication skills
  • ARRT (R)(CT) (must be obtained within one year of employment) (preferred)
