You will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital’s Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program.
  • Performs, properly documents, and reports all procedures in accordance with departmental policy, obtaining all available necessary information for proper interpretation. Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology as it pertains to EKG. Enters patient demographic information accurately. Follows through with all details to ensure a smooth and timely flow of procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of levels of growth and development from age one day through the conclusion of life. Demonstrates knowledge and skill to provide service to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Assists with clinical instructions and serves as a resource to less experienced employees. Maintains patient confidentiality as required by HIPPA.  Responds appropriately and in a timely manner to all patient orders.  Practices customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement projects as requested and proactively initiates process improvement ideas.
  • Accurately documents, completes, and charges procedures to ensure quality standards set by the department and hospital.
  • Practices the principles of universal body substance isolation and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies on a continual basis.
  • Follows all Florida Hospital Tampa policies and departmental procedure.
  • Keeps Supervisor and/or Director informed and seeks assistance from appropriate individuals when confronted with complicated procedures to ensure safe and effective patient care. 
  • Communicates appropriately and professionally with floors, physicians, patients and visitors.
  • Communicates abnormal findings to the RN and or physician. 
  • Maintains a professional relationship with all customers and co-workers. 
  • Maintains the confidentiality of patients, administration, employees, and medical staff information with no infractions.
  • Communicates with patients and family members appropriate to age and understanding.
  • Manages time and equipment effectively and works as a team member to provide the best patient care. Carries out assignments in a timely manner.
  • Receives instructions and guidance from the supervisors and is compliant with special requests as situations dictate.
  • Assists as needed with various office responsibilities to include, physician’s billing, delivering EKGs to the floor, verifies patient MRI #s prior to editing and responding to phone inquiries/fax requests from departments and physician offices.

  • Promote evidence of adherence to the hospital confidentiality policy.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in obtaining/evaluating a technically acceptable EKG.
  • Must be able to function independently with little or no supervision.
  • Must remain calm during stressful or emergent situations.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, and must be able to communicate effectively.
  • BLS upon hire or within 90 days. 
  • CPR skills checked annually.
  • Stress testing experience or formal education for stress testing preferred if stress testing is part of the job expectation.
  • Current EKG Competency Certificate
  • High school diploma or equivalence required.
  • Registered CCT with at least one (1) year of Cardiac Telemetry or EKG experience that included stress testing, holter monitor, signal average. OR At least two (2) years of Cardiac Telemetry experience or EKG experience that included stress testing, holter monitor, signal average.
